3rd Annual Nick DiMaria Memorial
Golf Outing
Hits a Hole-In-One for Twilight
Wish Foundation
Bucks County, PA – The
Nick DiMaria Foundation recently held their
3rd annual golf outing, this year benefiting
Twilight Wish Foundation. The golf outing was
held Friday, June 6, 2008, at the Bucks County
Country Club in Jamison, PA. Over 150 participants
enjoyed a day on the links with dinner, prizes,
and a silent auction afterwards.
The Nick DiMaria Foundation is
a nonprofit, charitable organization founded
in memory of Nick DiMaria by his children and
a group of their friends. The Nick DiMaria Foundation
identifies specific charitable causes in the
community that the Foundation can assist through
fundraising efforts and continue to take care
of the underserved in the spirit of Mr. DiMaria.
This year $25,000 was raised, with all proceeds
going directly to Twilight Wish Foundation.
Gene Petrucci, Associate Executive Director,
presented Barbara DiMaria with a framed tile
made especially for Twilight Wish by local Bucks
County artist, Khara Flint.
The funds raised from the event
will be used to grant outstanding local wishes
for seniors. Two of those wishes include:
- Leo, 87, uses a walker, and his wife, Dorothy,
is wheelchair- bound. The Warminster couple’s
ground floor condo is a good distance away
from the parking lot and only accessible across
muddy grounds, making it difficult for both
of them to get around and be independent.
Their wish is for a paved walkway from their
condo to the parking lot.
- Henrietta, 85, of Northeast Philadelphia,
still lives in the house she was born in in
1922. The house badly needs repairs, including
replacing the threadbare carpeting and badly
stained and peeling wallpaper.
Twilight Wish Foundation is a
501(c) (3) nonprofit, charitable organization
that grants wishes to deserving, economically-disadvantaged
senior citizens who cannot make their own wishes
come true. Founded five years ago, Twilight
Wish has granted 969 individual wishes and recognized
another 1080 seniors in celebratory events.
Wishes range from simple, such as having dinner
with a friend, to the more ambitious, meeting
a favorite baseball player or a ballroom dance
with a handsome man. All too often, many wishes
are for basic needs such as hearing aids, lift
chairs, or dental work. Twilight Wish would
not be able to continue its mission of enriching
the lives of disadvantaged seniors by bringing
them comfort and joy, without the help of volunteers,
corporate and community involvement and donations.
