2007 Charitable Cause

Tony DiMaria was given the responsibility of selecting the2007 charitable cause to which the Nick DiMaria Foundation will donate the funds raised through the 2nd Annual Nick DiMaria Memorial Golf Outing. Tony selected a cause that is close to home, for him and the entire DiMaria family. When Tony was 13 years old, he was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes. Since that time, Tony has been battling diabetes, and the daily challenges it presents. Tony suggested that the Foundation donate the funds raised through the Golf Outing to local children afflicted with diabetes. In keeping with that goal and the mission of the Foundation, the Board has decided that the proceeds of the Second Annual Nick DiMaria Memorial Golf Outing will be used to benefit children with diabetes through a donation to the American Diabetes Association Donovan McNabb Diabetes Camp for Kids.

The Donovan McNabb Diabetes Camp for Kids is a week-long camp held in Green Lane, PA for children aged 8-16 who have diabetes. In 2003, Donovan McNabb made a significant financial donation to the camp, and the American Diabetes Association decided to rename the camp in honor of his generosity. The camp provides a great atmosphere in which diabetic children can learn about diabetes management and education, and interact with other children with diabetes. The cost of the camp is $600 per child. There are many diabetic children who could greatly benefit from the camp experience, but whose families cannot afford the cost of the camp. We have decided to raise funds to donate to the camp so that needy children with diabetes will be given the opportunity to attend the camp.
